Even back then he hadn't felt safe going to a hospital. It had made Matt Murdock Sense to just simply wait things out and hope it got better. It had worked, though? "Before we start dragging in other doctors, maybe see if that happens again this time?" How long had he been without powers then? A day? Two? What would happen if they never came back even after the swelling went down?
A spasm of pain radiating out from where his old gunshot wound was made him arch his back, a groan escaping him that ended in a cough. Instinctively he leaned into Kate's soothing touch, craving the physical affection until the spasm went away. Somehow in the middle of that his hand had found hers.
Giving her hand a little squeeze, he tried to smile weakly at her. "Let me know if your butt goes numb sitting on the floor," he joked. "Maybe there's a cushion or something we can borrow while we're at it." A beat. "And I saved you half the water. You should drink it. I know you're wearing enough water, but you're still probably dehydrated, too."
