Hoepefully. Maybe sooner than you know it. Sure thing.

Kate could have agreed in so many ways, but she didn't want to lie to Matt and have a guess. Instead, she tried to make her point. "I'm talking about the whole package, Matt." Shit, that kinda sounded wrong. "You were shot on the head and the chest. You inhaled smoke. You've been barely sleeping at all. Passing out a few hours is not gonna fix all that and your body is screaming it."

Oh, God, was she truly being the voice of reason in this situation? Kate felt almost dirty about it.

Reminding him that he had no reason to thank her, she closed the door behind him and went to find her things. Her clothes, which she had dropped as a wet bundle on the floor were, unsurprisingly, still wet. Matt on the other hand, having spread his suit, had got better results than she did.

Finding her phone, not only did Kate check the time, but she also sent Alice the footage she'd filmed in the harbor. Quickly checking the news, she was relieved to find that while they were recovering the night had been, for New York's standards, a quiet one.

"It's 8:30," she let him know. "Let me give you a hand." She pointed out, not even realizing he had stepped on something already. "There's stuff like screws and wrenches on the floor."
