It was strange, it was seamless. The closer their friendship became, it felt as if Matt had little by little claimed even more space into her personal life. He simply seemed happy to fit in, getting to know the people that mattered in her life, getting to know the place she had grown up at. Teaching her dog tricks only Matt and Lucky shared. In a way, it was surreal to have him in her childhood home, giving him a far more detailed tour compared to that one night in which both he and his girlfriend had brought Kate home.

Heather. Wasn't he supposed to stop by home? Maybe she should remind him. But Matt surely has already thought about it. Right?

Besides, it's not like he can go back home in this state.

"Hey." Even though Matt had placed his hands on the folded bathrobe, Kate didn't hand it over just yet. "I wouldn't offer if I wasn't comfortable, Matt. You know me. You know I wouldn't lie about this, not to you." Maybe he couldn't hear her heartbeat. But she liked to think that his partner didn't need to do that to figure Kate wasn't lying. "And you don't put me out. I'm seriously always so happy to hang with you. And--" She bit her lip, unsure if she should be honest or not. "I don't know. I'm just excited to have you here."
