She isn't expecting him to speak French back to her, and certainly not as smoothly as he does, and she leans back a little to laugh. It's melodious and warm and she gives him a playful little swat to the bicep.
"Matt Murdock, is there anything you can't do?" She teases, obviously pleased by his little surprise.
"I've never milked a cow. Feels like all my quality creamers judge me a little for it." He does love making her smile, and finding out they have something in common. His expression shows a bit of a smug grin at the sound of her laugh, like he's accomplished something worthwhile. "We can now talk in French when we don't want those around us to know what we're saying. Or just to annoy them." He would absolutely tease Foggy by doing it.
Somehow she suspects that if he had to milk a cow he would still wind up doing a good job of it, he just seems to have a lot of natural talent.
"By those around us, do you mean Foggy?" She asks, knowing him well enough to know that's exactly what he would do.
When he compliments her laugh she smiles and leans in close to kiss his cheek. "Thank you, so do you. And you have one of the best smiles I've ever seen."
"I didn't not mean Foggy," he admits sheepishly. It might not be the most mature of his life choices, but he still thinks it'd be a funny prank to pull on his friend. What else were best friends and law partners for, really? "I guess you're starting to know me pretty well." He doesn't hate that reality.
At the kiss to his cheek he slips an arm to settle around her waist. Her compliment earns a widened grin of his own. "Careful. Sweet talk like that and you'll make me blush." With his other hand he tentatively moves his fingers closer to her face, pausing before actually touching her. He wants to trace her mouth, to feel her smile. "May I?"
It doesn't have to be mature so long as both Matt and Foggy enjoy each other's pranks and joking, it's actually kind of sweet in a way that they've been such good friends for so long and still have the same rapport that they did when they were young.
"I guess I am."
Another of those tingles go down her spine when she feels his arm slip around her waist and she stays close, tilting her face up to look into his.
He always asks to make certain before doing anything so intimate. At her permission he gives a small nod and lets his fingertips brush against her face. He feels along the contours and angles, brushing back her hair, lingering on her lips. He can't help but smile a little as he does so. "See, I knew you had a beautiful smile."
His fingertips move across her skin so softly, like the whisper of touch and yet she can feel the warmth of his skin and she has to resist the urge to press a kiss to his fingers.
"Thank you." She says softly, her smile growing even more.
