Well, I want you to have fun too. And I'm curious to see if the loop earplugs would actually help. It depends on the vibe of the night, you know? I like to sing Someone to Watch Over Me. But if it's more - high energy, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. How about you? Has anyone ever successfully gotten you out for karaoke?
I'd try them, at least. I did try sound cancelling headphones once when I was sick, because it's harder to regulate my abilities when I'm not well. I moved around too much for them to really work.
Those both seem like good crowd pleasing choices. No, I've never actually done karaoke. Unless Foggy randomly singing wherever he goes counts.
I hope they actually work. I was excited to tell you about them when I saw the ad. And not just for karaoke purposes. Seems like it could be useful to have, like you said, for times when you're sick. We can count that for Foggy but not for you! What am I going to have to do to get you to participate? I'm prepared to resort to bribery here.
Records do have a nice sound to them. Kind of - warmer than other media storage, I think. Well now I know I'm going to have to take you to an outdoor concert some time this summer.
I wonder how much of it is nostalgia? I try to buy the records I remember my mom having when I come across them. No, I was thinking one of the jazz in the park events. We'll be the youngest people there, it'll be great.
Music, mostly. Childhood snacks, too. She loved a lot of music from the 60s and 70s. My white whale is this rare Fleetwood Mac compilation. Jazz, and we'll sneak in some burgers. If you think I'm not going to be game to go get a fish dinner at 4:30 PM with Ethel and Fred, you're about to be really surprised.
I do love ants on a log, but the ones I immediately think about for nostalgia are dunkaroos and those like...disgusting containers of bubble gum powder? Fleetwood Mac is incredible. I was obsessed with this live recording of Silver Springs for almost a solid year as a teenager. Isn't that the dream? This is starting to sound like a double date, though.
The bubblegum powder I don't remember, but I did have Dunkaroos. Nothing like giving kids pure sugar. I also remember those sugar sticks that you dipped in more sugar to suck on? Someone sure hated parents for inventing those.
I'm gonna see if I can track it down now.
It is sounding a little like that, isn't it? You all right with that?
@pagekaren
I appreciate the thoroughness, Ms. Page.
So what is your go to karaoke song?
and another thank you!

Welcome again! :)

What if I have a shit voice once you hear it?
no subject
And on the plus side, if you have a shit voice, I've got the earplugs.

Although I don't think my voice is that awful. My shower's never complained.

Well, nobody knows voices and acoustics like a shower.
Does that mean you've already been convinced?

What song would you pick?

Would you go with a classic or something more recent?

I can imagine it sounds more dimensional than something that's been synthesized and auto-tuned, with sensitive hearing.

There's something about street music, though. I love a good street musician.

It's been a long time since I've gone to a concert, so you're on. Just don't make it one that's too crazy. My ears can't take endless screaming.

Jazz, you do know the way to my heart. We'll make friends with the old people, maybe make plans for an early bird special meetup. I'm game.

Good to know, and good taste. Fleetwood Mac has some incredible stuff.
It sounds like we're now going to the concert not just to hear jazz but also to find our new best couples friends who won't make us stay out too late.
