Well, I’d be lying if I didn’t say your face. And your body. It goes beyond that for me too though.

You’re so… charming and sweet. You have a way of making people feel comfortable around you and drawing people in. And you have such a great sense of humor.

I can be very challenging. I’m glad you like that sort of thing.

Your stubble always seems so perfectly placed. If I didn’t know better, I’d say you planned it.

You do have to be sometimes, since it’s part of your job. I’m sure I wouldn’t want my whole character to be judged based on the things I say onstage.

Saying that I push you to be better are strong words, Matt. Do you really feel that deeply about me?

Oh! Sorry… I misunderstood.

I’d like to think that I’m a worthwhile challenge in all aspects of my life.

A few things about my ex-husband when I was particularly pissed at him. I don’t regret saying any of the things that people find ‘vulgar’.

Of course I did.

[Truth be told, she followed all of his cases while she was in San Francisco. Keeping an eye on him the best she way she could.]

Does she have the amulet? Are you going to mentor her?

It's complicated. I think I need whiskey if I'm going to dive into it.
I'm not saying I won't dive into it, let's just maybe save it for a time we can drink and be maudlin.

You don't owe me anything.
I was mad at you for...a while, but I get it. I really do.
Losing people never gets easier. Losing someone like Foggy is just - impossible to try to navigate.

If anyone's going to step it, it'll be her.
And I am very thankful for that.

It was heavy. So heavy that, when it hit the pavement Kate could have sworn she heard the whole city tremble. How had she been carrying it all the way here? What had changed? Suddenly, the simple idea of picking up her bow seemed unthinkable.

Looking up, Kate found herself lost in that back alley. Who had she been searching for? Everything was suddenly so much darker and from afar, she could hear the screams. Someone yelling. Was that her name? No, even though she concentrated, Kate realized she couldn't figure out the words.

Instead, she was hit with a strong feeling of deja vu as she tried moving her legs. They were as heavy as her bow looked and, even though she used her whole strenght to try and drag them, Kate could barely move them a few inches. Hadn't she had a nightmare aboutg this before? Or was it a memory?

Memories caught up with her as she was suddenly consumed by the need to run, to escape, to hide from an invisible enemy, a predator out there. She glanced at the sky, suddenly feeling so much smaller. Was she wearing a floral jersey? She owned one when she was a child. What? Seven, eight? Above her head, she saw the explosions. The Chitauri attackingt he city again.

"No. Not again. Dad. Dad!"

Agitated, Kate realized it was harder to breath. She was clenching her teeth now, pushing her whole body forward as she tried to move, to hide, to do anything.

The games are over now.

She recognized that voice well.

It was Wilson Fisk's shadow that made everything seem so much darker now. How had Kate not seen him practically tower over her? Before she could duck, move, attempt to grab at one of her arrows in her quiver, Fisk closed his hands tightly around her throat, squeezing.

Mommy is not here to help you this time.

"G-Get off me!!"

Kate had learned the hard way. Within a ring or standing on her bare feet on some mat, she rarely doubted her abilities. There was rules, there was a safety net ready to catch her if she made some big mistake. You fall, no biggie, back up on your feet.

On the street? She had learned the hard way that no coach is there to back you up, no referee is there to call anyone out or bring things to an end if it all gets out of hand. Sure, Kate has been praised for her form before, having it called both elegant and perfect. None of that matters on the street, not when you're surrounded by a streetgang wearing tracksuits.

She sees it in Clint before, how quick he is to think on his feet and, through unconventional moves, how he figures things out. With Matt, it's the same thing. She recognises the kata, what he's clearly learned from that asshole teacher he talks about. Kate notices where she could make corrections, except that structure matters little to Matt. He is all brawl. He becomes a wall, impossible to break through no matter how many punches he takes. With slow, threatening steps, he approaches, bringing fear before he lets his fists do the talking.

"I learned a thing or two since the last time that we saw each other," Kate warns Maya as they keep on the move, this slow dance in which they measure each other while they wonder: who's gonna throw that first blow? Would that be smart? Remember, Kate, this is not about taking a shot.

They're supposed to change minds.

"Look, all I'm saying is, there's other ways to do this." Could she actually convince Maya, though? She knows what it's like when you want nothing but revenge and Clint had told her everything about why Maya wanted him dead. It seemed her target had changed since the last time they saw each other.

But, speaking of the devil...

Like a red blur, Daredevil landed between both women before things escalated. So much for proving the point that Kate didn't need backup here, but --

Kate's jaw dropped and, merely a second after Maya she echoed her words. "You know her?"

Oh, straight away Kate could do the math. It was easy to see even on Maya's face. Was Kate honestly the one and only woman Matt Murdock had not taken to the bedroom?!

The world kept becoming darker and darker as Kate gasped for air. She barely felt the scratches even as her nails dug into her skin, leaving trails of a furious pink on her pale skin. No, all she could feel was the squeeze, that iron grip that made it impossible to breath.

It was the weight on her legs that gave in first. Suddenly, she surprised herself as her knee jerked inwards, almost shaking her awake from the spell. What followed was barely a gasp. Almost as if she had reached the tiniest pocket of air, Kate managed to breath. With whatever strenght she had left, she kicked Fisk between the legs and off herself. he doubled over and disappeared, letting Kate run through him as the darkness disappeared, that alley suddenly clear to her eyes again.

And there she saw him. Daredevil. Some redhead and a man down on the floor.

"D!"

Looking back, Kate managed to avoid the few tendrils that still stood tall, turning towards her like a sunflower searching for the light. Grabbing her bow, she ducked as those tendrils attempted to touch her again, reaching into her quiver to pull out one of ther trick arrows and point it at Mary.

"Get off him!"

The arrow flew right past Matt, hitting Mary square on her shoulder and zapping her with an electric shock.
