The prospect of being bi doesn't scare me. I still say cats just don't want to be bothered in general. They want to decide when to bother you, not the other way around.

I'm pretty sure they were adapted from the sausages in Germany, weren't they? Not appropriated, since none of this is appropriation, but adapted.

I've never doubted that from you, Matt. I'm just being nosey about your college years, but of course you take things to a more meaningful conversation. [What? He was probably incredibly cute in college, even if age does favor a lot of guys. Now, Matt with another hot dude? Yes, she's gonna totally objectify that in her head.] Are you more of a duck person?

It's just something I've thought a lot about, and you know my mind loves to overthink. Reconciling faith while also disagreeing with parts of how it's interpreted. On a lighter subject, I'll just say I had a lot of fun in college. I think I'm just an animal person in general. I always tried to sneak in pets but had to let them loose. I probably wanted a dog the most as a kid, but I think most kids want dogs.

I regret introducing you two.

I know and it makes sense. To be honest, it's one of the things that kinda made me not feel super comfy around the religion, but I get I was not being completely fair. [The institution does the things in a way, but the faith and the church's people are a different thing. Matt is living proof of that.] Yeah, not shocked to think you have stories. [She smiles.] I was desperate for a dog too. And a monkey.

Dolphins too. But we clearly couldn't have one. Not in the building's pool anyway. If it had been a private one maybe...

To Pete? No, but I was thinking of reaching out. I've seen the news and he seemed busy. Should I tell him about the ball?

I wanted a dolphin, too! [The enthusiasm in Matt's voice surprises him, but Kate's brought back delightful memories he'd forgotten.] I hadn't even seen a beach growing up, so being in the ocean with a dolphin sounded amazing. Plus I heard they're really smart, and I wanted a smart pet. I wanted an owl for the same reason - that, and because it made me think I'd then be a wizard like Merlin. [The Sword in the Stone Disney movie had run deep in his youth.]

It can't hurt to give him a heads up. I've been too busy to really stay in touch either, but I wanted to check in on him. I know he's been doing this a long time, but it's rough for everyone right now.

[It sure takes her aback. Like a wave, joy seems to flow right out of him and touches her in a way she had not expected. They've been through so much together since... Hell, she had not heard this much enthusiasm in Matt since Foggy died.]

Matthew the wizard would have been the cutest thing ever. [Oh, God, she so wants to get him a wizard bathrobe or something of that sort now. Would he be able to feel it? Maybe a robe with stars stitched to it. Fuck it, she can learn to sew and make it herself. How hard can it be?]

Also, we're adding this to our future holidays. Picture this: the Caribbean. Swimming with dolphins. Living our childhood dreams.

[It was silly. And dumb. She doubts he'll ever actually agree to go on a holiday together. But it's nice to dream.]

Yeah, that's a good point. But he's been having such a rough time lately too, Spider-Man has been doing extra hours. I didn't want him to, you know, think he can't take five minutes. [A beat.] But it can't hurt for him to know.

I liked all those legend and folk stories. Heroes and quests. Characters with destinies.

Have you been to the Caribbean before?

We can let him know and to stay on standby. I imagine he's monitoring Fisk's movements as much as he can, anyway. They have history, too. Who doesn't have history with Fisk at this point.

Really? Well, we clearly need to fix that. I'm surprised you never went to Japan with all your ninja lore.

I know you're not a big Trek fan, so where do you land with Star Wars? Or Lord of the Rings? All those years of mystical ninja training, all for foam sword battles. Sounds about right.

I haven't had the chance to travel much. I was broke for most of my life, and working despite that. Now it always just feels like the wrong time to take time for myself.

Well, it's kinda nerdy but I really liked them as a kid. Dad loved them. We watched those and action flicks, that kinda stuff. [That actually brings up a memory.] He nailed the Gollum voice and had like these conversations with himself to freak me out. [It's crazy how she had almost forgotten about that.] Hey, you can play the mystical blind monk that shows up to kick ass with foam.

Well, it doesn't hurt to make plans then. I've been to Tokyo once but I wasn't super small, so I don't remember a thing. I need to do the temples and stuff one day.

Did he really? Sounds like a cool dad with excellent taste. Wish I could have met him.

Yeah, I knew someone who trained in Japan, but her experience there was also very limited. She was allowed outside much. So I just know about temple life and pretty much just that from her.

Well, there's temples and islands full of foxes and then some weird game with metallic balls that I understand even less than the language. But it all sounds pretty trippy and fun.

I just think they're fluffy and that I want to take one home. But have you heard them? Like, seriously, what does the fox say?

You probably have a point. But mom still insists I got him from his side of the family. [It's funny, because no matter how upset she is still is over her mother, the affection is palpable when she talks about Eleanor.] Well, we were just back from this park that had zip-lines, you know? So, I saw this thing on a cartoon and though that the chandelier would totally work as a swing. And that maybe I could set up a zip-line with a rope made of sheets. [She pauses.] Didn't really work out.

Matt... You haven't heard the song? You're kidding!
